Founded in 1974, we opened our doors to the public in 1976 in a former bowling alley in Hanover, New Hampshire. We cut the ribbon on the Museum Building and 110-acre learning landscape in Norwich, Vermont in 1989 and are now one of the busiest museums in northern New England, welcoming 155,000 visitors annually and reaching 12,000 students in regional schools.

Montshire is committed to the social and intellectual development of our community, and to providing new, rewarding experiences with each visit.
