Programs & Workshops for Children & Families

Indoors and out, Montshire's programs for children and families provide plenty of opportunities for exploring science during the school year.

Most programs require pre-registration and a fee is charged. Programs are taught by the Montshire education staff. Need-based scholarships are available. 

Young Scientist Program

This weekly preschool/kindergarten program will foster your child's natural curiosity and learning through hands-on experiments and fun projects as we explore the physical and natural sciences. A different topic is presented each week. Preregistration required.
Morning and afternoon sessions.
Winter Session: January 11-February 15, 2012
Early Spring Session: February 29-April 11, 2012
Late Spring Session: April 25-May 16, 2012

Homeschoolers 

The Montshire offers programs and special days for homeschoolers to explore science in unique and fun ways. Homeschool groups are also invited to schedule their own group visit and a staff-led workshop.

Books and Beyond! Science for Preschoolers

This program combines great children’s literature and hands-on activities for fun science learning and exploration. Each day features a different book and activity. For children ages 3-5 and their parent or caregiver. Free with museum admission.

Afterschool Science Adventures

Join us for this electrifying three-week afterschool series. Starting with basic circuits we'll explore how much electricity can be produced from a photovoltaic cell. During the third class, you'll get to try building your own solar powered car. For children in grades 4-6. Pre-registration required.
