Friday Nights for Teen Tinkerers
The tinkering studio is open! Teens can spend a Friday night away from their parents and little siblings. We’ll design, create, and build something cool—a robot that draws, an electronic blinky bug, tessellating designs. Each month, we’ll explore a different topic. Teens will have a chance to use their imagination and sharpen their neurons. Pre-registration is encouraged, but drop-ins are welcome. For youth in grades 6–9. Pre-registration encouraged.
Members $14, non-members $16
Fridays, September 13, October 25, November 22, January 31, February 28, March 21
TINKERING DATES AND TOPICS
September 13: Frankenstuffies! Like taxidermy, but with stuffed animals instead of actual dead animals…youth can bring their own or experiment with ours.
October 25: Costume Accessory. Teens can make an accessory (helmet, sword, chains) for their costume with our broad selection of materials, or bring a work in progress to finish up.
November 22: Light-Up Paper. We’ll mess around with LEDs and paper and conductive inks to make a card or ornament for the holidays.
January 31, 2014: Light Painting. We’ll take advantage of the early darkness to paint with light! Bringing a digital camera is helpful.
February 28: Stop-Motion Animation. Teens can use our iPads or bring their own and we’ll make our own unique stop-motion films.
March 21: Tapigami. Youth can learn about and experiment with building and creating fantastical sculptures with masking tape.register online
