Name: Joe Lavin, The Norwich Inn
How are you connected to the Montshire?
I am connected to the Montshire both personally and as a Norwich business. The Norwich Inn is a member of the Montshire Corporate Associates program and we also participate in the “Science On Tap” series by providing wine and our own Jasper Murdock Ales. The Museum has been kind enough to host a number of Norwich Business Council and Hanover Area Chamber activities.
Why do you choose to be involved?
We believe in supporting one of the great assets to Norwich and the Upper Valley.
When was the first time you came to the Montshire?
When we were visiting our son at Dartmouth. He said, “You’ve to got to go see this really cool science museum in Norwich.” And, so we did.
What is your favorite exhibit?
I like the special “visiting” exhibitions—the dinosaur exhibits are great.
What do you wish everyone knew about the Museum?
The outdoor Science Park and Hughes Pavilion are places everyone should check out.
Is there one word you would use to describe the Museum?
Can I use two? Unique and Fun.
What do you wish we could do more of in the future?
I think the Montshire is already doing plenty—I cannot think of more!
What do you find most rewarding about volunteering/working/visiting at the Montshire?
I think the Montshire Staff is great—always friendly and helpful.
What is the best kept secret at the Montshire?
Probably that is a great venue for parties and other events.
Which other museums do you enjoy visiting?
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington and locally, the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth.
